The Richardsons: March Roundup

March was a wonderful month for us! We enjoyed visits from Mimi and Papa, survived boards part 1, Grammy, celebrated Paul's second birthday with friends and took a mini-trip to visit family, among many other things. Now that I am looking back, I'm realizing just how busy March was for us! The weather really changed this month, too, moving from winter with ice and snow days in the beginning and ending with some beautiful sunny weather. Now on to the pictures!

This month Paul learned to read. Just kidding, but he does like to look at the church bulletin which always has a beautiful picture of the church on the front page.

The first week of March we enjoyed a couple snow days! It was mostly ice, covered with a bit of snow, but it looked beautiful either way! Michael had two days off of school, and we loved having him home.

Paul had to check out his old car seat. It's amazing how much he has grown in a year!

Cinnamon rolls were our Mardi Gras treat this year.

I thought St. Francis looked pretty cool in the snow! (He resides in our front yard -- I guess he belongs to our neighbors?)

We still had snow on the ground on the third day, and it was just warming up enough to go out in it! Paul loved playing in it but he got his mittens wet and cold and we didn't last long.

Our heat occasionally goes out and we get a bit chilly. The cats always tend to snuggle when they are cold, so I covered them up a little.

We went to the Botanic Gardens with our friends one sunny Tuesday. After watching his 1-year-old friend go down the slide, he decided it was time to conquer his fear. He went down head-first a few times, but eventually went down on his butt over and over again.

Love that sweet face any time, but especially when he's asleep!

After a much-needed haircut. It was pretty shaggy.

Michael spent most of his spring break studying for boards, so we celebrated his hard work with cupcakes.

A couple days after the Botanic Gardens, we went to Rainbow Lake Playground. We were so proud of Paul for going down this slide, I took a ton of pictures.

We've got a climber!

Paul found these orange boots and fell in love! I didn't think we needed them, so we had to leave without them.

A leprechaun visited Paul on St. Patrick's Day. He left a pot of 'gold' under a rainbow. Clever, right?! ;)

Now that it is warm again, we have been spending more time outside. Unfortunately, our back door doesn't latch shut properly, so Phoebe has made several escape attempts. On this day, I had to block off the door with Michael's shoes to keep her from pushing it open.

The picture above is from a glass house in the children's section of the library. This month we started going to toddler story time, usually with our friends Krystal, Brock and Will. Paul loves it!

Mimi finished Paul's blanket and mailed it to him this month. When he saw it, he said, "Wow!" He can name all of the animals and will look at it and say "Mimi" throughout the day. It's perfect for our animal-loving little boy!

I have been waiting to see if Paul would have a security object... when he was just a baby, I offered him small blankets or stuffed animals, but he never got attached to anything. He only liked pacifiers for a couple months, and sucked his thumb until a few months ago. But for some reason, one night at bedtime, Paul saw Pumba and wanted to hold him throughout our night routine. He asked for him at nap time the next day, bedtime that night. He still requests Pumba whenever he's sleepy, but if we don't have him for some reason, he's fine. He just hangs out in Paul's bed all day. The funny thing is, Pumba is just this tiny figurine, who is mysteriously missing a leg.

We recently moved our guest bed into the sun room and we love it there. It's a great place to watch rain or birds in the sun. The cats and Paul agree.
