Paul & FJ Do Nashville

Of course we were excited for Thanksgiving and had a wonderful day with family here in Tennessee, but this may be the first year I've been more excited for the day after! Carolyn and Felicity planned a visit to Nashville a few months ago, and we have been looking forward to it ever since!  Friday morning, while the rest of you were standing in lines for Black Friday deals, we were off to the airport to pick up our visitors!

They got in around noon on Friday, so the first order of business was lunch followed by naps. Paul was too excited to sleep, but Felicity took her nap with just a little help from Aunt Sam (I am very proud of this, considering 40 percent of the time I can't get my own child to take a nap).

That afternoon we went to the Frist Center to paint and play with Magnatiles. We also looked around some of the galleries (Paul thought most of the figures in the Kandinsky exhibit looked "mad").

We went to Burger UP for dinner and it was so good! The kids had a blast playing in the window and I noticed more than one person outside laughing at their antics. On the way home, we noticed a lot of Christmas lights already up. We also noticed that Paul and Felicity were holding hands. So cute!

The next morning we had a fun pancake breakfast before going out for the day. Felicity brought Paul this train vest he's wearing and he wore it the whole weekend! I had to wash it, and it was not even put away before Paul wanted to wear it again. He loves it.

We spent Saturday morning at the zoo. Paul and Felicity had fun running from exhibit to exhibit.

We were a little disappointed that none of the kangaroos came on to the pathway for petting!

This kangaroo has a little joey!

Of course a train ride was necessary!

The kids started to get tired so they hitched a ride.

This clouded leopard had to check Felicity out!

She was a little startled when she looked back and saw the big cat staring at her.

Checking out the flamingos.

Hanging out with goats.

Cuddling.

We had to go to the playground!

Paul went down this huge slide all by himself. I was a little nervous about it but Michael thought he'd be fine, and he was! We are so proud of our brave boy, even if we don't know how he ended up on his tummy instead of his butt like he started.

We also spent some time jumping!

Both kids took a great nap after our big zoo adventure! That afternoon we went to the farmers market downtown and then to dinner at Mitchell Deli. That night we all watched Frozen (notice Felicity below in her Anna dress) before saying goodbye and going to bed. It was a quick trip, but we are just so glad we got to spend this time with them!
