So, I am way behind on this, but, remember when "ice storm" was this crazy, rare phenomenon? And we thought it was so cold and a little worrisome ("What if the ice breaks our power line?") but on the whole we were like, "Yeah! No school for the guys!"? Well now that we have been hit with two strikes dealt by everyone's BFF The Polar Vortex, this post seems very outdated. (As I write this, it is about 16 degrees outside for maybe the 10th time in the past three three weeks.)
Anywho, that first batch of cold air was fun and exciting and we loved it! Friday, December 7, SCO canceled class due to inclement weather. We were happy to have dad home! It rained for the first half of the day, and then got cold and starting raining ice and icicles formed on everything. Saturday night brought even more ice. The trees were all weighted down, each individual branch, leaf, berry coated with ice. Icicles hung from overhangs and our car was coated with the stuff. We were late to church because we didn't give ourselves enough time to scrape it all off! Definitely showing our Floridian nature. (Which we have begun to embrace after these extreme winter episodes.)
We bundled up and spent a little time playing in the backyard. Paul thought the icicles were pretty cool!
